I am proud to say I grew up and spent my whole life living on the traditional territories and homeland of the Dene, Inuit and Métis peoples of the Northwest Territories though I have recently made Edmonton my home. I spent my career passionately serving Northerners in varying ways before earning my masters degree in counselling; I have always been a counsellor at heart.
I am the happiest when I am on the land camping, hiking, kayaking and discovering hidden swim spots in nature. I also enjoy pottery, yoga, swimming and watching TV.
My Counselling Approach: My counselling style tends to lead with taking a humanistic perspective, which means I take a holistic approach that that focuses on free will, human potential, deep empathy, self-compassion and self-discovery. I aim to help you develop a strong and healthy sense of self, explore your feelings, find meaning, and focus on your strengths, which I can assure you, there are many.
I am passionate about social justice, advocacy and working from an intersectional feminist, anti-systemic, anti-racism, anti-oppressive and inclusive lens. Navigating the world as it is is much more difficult for some than it is for others and that is a problem with our system; not a problem with who you are as a person.
Counselling Specialties: Relationships, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, teens, parenting, personal growth, energy/spirituality, domestic/family violence, women’s issues, recovering after sexual assault. I am qualified to practice Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
